Description We are seeking a Public Relations Manager to lead and implement the Church’s governmental, interfaith, and media relations strategy across several European countries. This role is pivotal in building relationships of trust and mutual understanding with government leaders, media professionals, interfaith influencers, prepare communities for new temple projects, raise the Church’s awareness and reputation, and promote religious freedom. Responsibilities Government Relations: Develop and nurture relationships with national and local government officials to advocate for religious freedom, social justice, and community initiatives aligned with the Church’s mission. Represent the Church in high-level discussions on policies and issues impacting the Church. Interfaith Relations: Lead initiatives to foster dialogue and collaboration with leaders of other faith communities. Organize interfaith forums, events, and joint programs that promote peace, understanding, and community service. Media Relations: Build and strengthen relationships with journalists, editors, media influencers and other opinion makers. Oversee media campaigns, craft press releases, and ensure positive, consistent media coverage across traditional and digital platforms. Support local communication councils in media engagement and social media community engagement. Strategic Planning & Reporting: Collaborate with the Area Presidency and the Communication & Publishing Director to develop and execute a strategic relationship-building plan for each country, aligned with the country communication plan and the broader Area Communication Strategy. Provide regular reports and insights on outreach efforts and media coverage. Record interactions with key government officials and opinion leaders in the CRM database tool. Crisis Communication: Develop and implement a crisis communication plan. Serve as the point of contact for media during crises, ensuring the Church’s message is clear, empathetic, and aligned with its values. Collaboration & Team Leadership: Oversee the work of National Communication Councils to ensure effective outreach and relationship building with governmental, interfaith, and media stakeholders. Collaborate with the Welfare and Self Reliance Department to address humanitarian needs at the country level and build relationships with governmental and non-governmental organizations that work in the humanitarian and self-reliance fields. Collaborate with the Family History Department and leverage existing resources to address family history initiatives and projects in each country and build and strengthen relationships in that field. Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to build sustainable volunteer teams. Manage relationships with local public relations firms that may be selected to work on specific projects and initiatives. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Extensive prior experience in public relations, governmental relations, or interfaith relations, ideally in an international context with a focus on Europe Central Area. Strong relationship-building skills and experience engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, interfaith leaders, journalists and media representatives. Proficiency in English, with additional Europe Central Area languages highly desirable. Expertise in managing media relations, executing outreach campaigns and social media community engagement efforts. Experience in working with PR firms is highly desirable. Ability to manage crisis communication, develop long-term public relations strategies, and work within a global organization. Frequent travel within Europe is required. Work Environment: Flexible remote working arrangement with regular in-person meetings within the Europe Central Area (Frankfurt) Office. Willingness to travel and occasionally work outside of standard hours for events or crisis management. Why Join Us?
