WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
As part of an enthusiastic global team of experts in our Quantum Chemistry research group in BASF SE, you will provide support for our unit regarding different research and development activities related to molecular chemical reactivity and organo- as well as homogeneous catalysis. You will work on co-developing and benchmarking tools to study reactive networks in an automated way and applying them to real-world problems coming from all divisions. The postdoctoral position is available immediately at BASF’s headquarter in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The position is initially for one year and can be extended by mutual agreement.
* You will co-develop internal tools to study reactive networks in an automated way.
* Moreover, you will apply these tools to a broad variety of chemical reactivity problems.
* Within a team of experts, you will translate questions from the experiment into quantum chemical simulations and translate the obtained results back into e.g. synthesis recommendations.
WHAT YOU OFFER
* a recent PhD degree in chemistry or a related area with a focus on quantum chemistry
* expertise in applying quantum chemical methods to chemical reactivity problems, including state-of-the-art treatment of entropic and solvation effects
* expertise in python programming and working on HPC systems
* expertise in mechanistic and physical organic chemistry are highly welcome
* a solution driven way of working
* excellent English and communication skills
