Investment Professional – Private Market Fund Investments (Manager Selection)
About our mandate:
We are an investment office currently being established in Munich by a German entrepreneurial family. Our aim is to manage our investors' assets with the highest quality and ethical standards.
Our focus is on international fund investments in liquid (equities, fixed income, hedge funds etc.) and illiquid (private equity, private credit, etc.) asset classes. We want to establish long term relationships with the best managers in the world and therefore built an international investment office.
We are looking for an experienced Investment Associate / Manager to join our investment team as soon as possible.
Your Tasks / Responsibilities:
Select, analyse, and conduct due diligence on alternative fund investments, with a primary focus on Private Equity Manager Selection.
Develop a portfolio roll-out strategy, including commitment pacing model and define the strategy for the broader private markets portfolio (which could include over time other illiquid asset classes e.g. Private Credit, Real Estate and Venture Capital).
Independently evaluate fund opportunities to identify top-tier managers across global markets, particularly in regions like UK, North America, and Asia.
Actively manage fund selection and portfolio construction, including sourcing, screening, and due diligence of private equity and other illiquid strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with international fund managers and advisors to access the best investment opportunities globally.
Support cross-asset portfolio diversification while maintaining a focus on high-quality manager investments.
Preparation of presentation documents and performance reporting for investors, preparation of investment committee meetings and due diligence reports.
Analyses of the existing portfolio, particularly with regard to the idiosyncratic and macroeconomic opportunities and risks.
Further development of systems for asset allocation and risk management.
Your Profile / Qualifications:
Graduated from a leading university with outstanding academic results. Preferred majors include economics, natural sciences, or engineering, ideally with a strong focus on finance.
4–7 years of substantial professional experience in illiquid fund selection, ideally specializing in private equity.
Demonstrated expertise in assessing illiquid fund strategies with a comprehensive understanding of the global investment landscape.
Proven track record of thriving in competitive environments such as private investment offices, asset management firms, or international financial institutions. Requires adaptability and resilience.
Exceptional analytical abilities, combined with the capability to independently perform fund selection and due diligence processes.
Advanced proficiency in IT tools, including MS Office and investment management/reporting software.
Fluent in German at a native level, with excellent command of English; additional language skills are advantageous.
International working experience or studying abroad is a significant plus.
Highly self-driven with a long-term vision and a strong desire to actively shape and contribute to the growth of a new investment office. A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset is essential.
