We're seeking a strategic finance leader to architect the capital structure behind Project Dawn, Phlair’s first large-scale Direct Air Capture deployment—and a blueprint for the future of carbon removal at scale. As Head of Project Finance, you’ll take ownership of project finance, investor reporting, and internal accounting—while working directly with our CEO, Malte, to structure and close Dawn’s financing. You’ll also contribute to future fundraising rounds, but the immediate priority is clear: enabling the success of Project Dawn through rigorous, world-class financial strategy and execution. This is a hands-on role at the core of our most critical work, with the potential to grow in scope as Phlair scales. Your mission at Phlair Within 3 Months Take ownership of internal accounting and investor reporting Lead financial due diligence and closing for Project Dawn Translate financial narratives into compelling investor materials Within 6 Months Support Malte, our CEO, in capital raise discussions—equity and non-dilutive Structure and close Project Dawn financing (debt, equity, offtake) Lead development of standalone financial models for Project Dawn Within 12 Months Establish repeatable project finance structures (debt, grants, PPAs, etc.) Build frameworks for scaling DAC deployment: financial modeling, risk assessment, procurement finance Begin building internal finance capabilities toward full-stack CFO function What you’ll need MSc or related degree in Finance, Business Administration, or any STEM field Background in renewable infrastructure, project finance, or energy investing (e.g. investment banking, infra fund, capital-intensive startup) Proven track record supporting or leading large-scale financings : debt, equity, structured instruments Strong financial modeling and advanced Excel skills, with a clear understanding of financial mechanics at scale You combine analytical depth with the ability to communicate complex financial and technical topics clearly—in both English and ideally German Ability to manage diverse stakeholder interests across legal, engineering, and investor audiences High autonomy, hands-on execution style, and comfort operating in ambiguity Based in Munich or open to relocation (we’ll support you) WHAT YOU'LL GROW INTO (STRATEGIC SCOPE) Become the central person for all things capital structure: equity, debt, grants, commodities Shape our corporate financial strategy and reporting processes as we scale Support commercialization strategy by evaluating business model options Work hand-in-hand with project execution, procurement, legal, and engineering teams Building and leading a full-stack finance team Great to have, but optional Experience with capex-heavy technologies (energy, mobility, industrials) Exposure to carbon markets, offtake agreements, or long-term infrastructure capital planning Background spanning both institutional finance and fast-paced startup environments What we offer you Competitive compensation package, including stock options Minimum 30 days vacation, including 2 days of recreational leave Financial support for relocation to Munich Free Germany-wide public transport ticket EGYM Wellpass fitness subscription Free team lunch every Thursday with our in-house chef WHY PHLAIR Worlds first Electrochemical DAC company with offtake agreement with Frontier Climate Backed by top-tier investors in climate tech and infrastructure such as Extantia, Planet A and Verve.
