About the role
The Head of HR (m/f/d) for Germany will partner with leaders and key partners in Germany to drive talent activities enabling UCB to reach its business objectives. You will act as a strategic influencer, therefore understanding the business, its imperatives, and priorities. You will lead or actively contribute to key strategic projects requiring HR matters knowledge and/or expertise.
Who you’ll work with
You will work closely with German leadership teams and extended partners to ensure a HR-focused way of working across all teams.
You will work with a team of local and global HR Partners and have a matrix influence on other Talent team members (operations, comp&ben, learning, recruiting) across and beyond Germany, delivering together on common HR objectives and enablers for all concerned stakeholders.
You will be a key partner for the works council.
What you’ll do
* Define and drive the overall German strategy - based on global strategy and objectives and market developments - while adhering to German labor laws and regulations
* Provide a talent philosophy and framework that aligns with global policies, fostering an environment where talent, organizational, and cultural initiatives thrive
* Cultivate a positive working environment to be an employer of choice
* Prioritize and take responsibility for overarching HR related global and local projects for Germany
* Be responsible for fostering cooperation and leading negotiations with the Works Council; formulating overall strategy and managing ongoing negotiations; positioning the HR team in relation to the Works Council; and assembling negotiation teams within the HR
* Provide legal advice to the HR team and in some cases the business partners
* Be responsible for a respective business team as a HR Business Partner
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience, and skills
Required:
* Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field
* Minimum 10 years experience as HR manager/leader in a global (ideally pharmaceutical) environment
* Substantial experience in cooperating and negotiating with Works Councils in Germany (understanding the role and rights of the Works Council within the German corporate structure, being able to effectively communicate and negotiate on a range of issues, and having a track record of successful negotiations)
Preferred:
* Ability to bring diverse viewpoints to the table, influence senior leaders, and partner to reach a common goal – play at the level of senior stakeholders using required diverse thinking & creativity
* Strategic & holistic thinking (ability to bring together different business & talent topics into a cohesive, proactive, and forward-looking HR contribution)
* Have a people-oriented mindset whilst driving business objectives and tracking connected results
* Understands the impact of own actions on other areas of the business and looks for synergies inside the organization.
