Technical Director (Construction) EMEA About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Director (Construction) to lead and drive the successful execution of data centre construction projects across the EMEA region. As a key leader in our EMEA Development team, you will provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the technical construction aspects of multiple data centre projects across the EMEA region, ensuring alignment with company objectives, the approved basis of design, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Support design and engineering stakeholders during pre-construction with input on constructability and construction sequencing. Responsible for the implementation of the approved basis of design, escalating to internal stakeholders where appropriate. Provide expert guidance on design, engineering, and construction methodologies, ensuring best practices and innovation in the delivery of hyperscale data centres. Lead and support project teams, including contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, to drive efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Establish and maintain robust governance structures, ensuring adherence to contractual, financial, and compliance obligations. Develop and implement technical strategies to optimize construction performance, mitigate risks, and enhance project delivery. Work closely with design, engineering, and other internal/external teams to ensure seamless integration of construction activities with overall project development. Drive value engineering initiatives to enhance cost efficiency while maintaining performance and sustainability goals. Function as the primary technical liaison between construction teams, executive leadership, and external partners. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence across all projects. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously improve construction processes and methodologies. Requirements Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proven track record in technical leadership within data centre construction, large-scale infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities within EMEA. 10 years in the data centre construction space. Strong background in construction management, MEP systems, and mission-critical infrastructure. Extensive knowledge of data centre design principles, building codes, and industry best practices. Experience in managing large-scale, complex construction projects from pre-construction to commissioning and handover. Strong leadership, and stakeholder management abilities. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English. Further European language skills would be an advantage. Ability to work across diverse geographical regions, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Willingness to travel across the EMEA region as required. Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, MRICS, CEng, LEED AP, or equivalent ) are advantageous. Experience working with hyperscale cloud providers, colocation operators, or major general contractors in the data centre sector. Why Join Us?
