Job mission: As a Legal Counsel IT Law & Data Privacy, you will provide legal support to the business units of Kia on a wide range of matters around data protection, IT and contract law as well as ensuring compliance with critical data protection regulations and provide key insights into emerging legal issues that impact our sector. You will internally and externally support the stakeholders and be in charge of administration of the Legal Department. This includes proactive risk management, risk mitigation advice, compliance with industry-specific laws as well as internal policies, presentations and trainings, overseeing commercial and managing contractual matters. This role is ideal for someone with a background in law who is passionate about data privacy, IT law, and regulatory compliance in an exciting and innovation-driven environment. Your Responsibilities: Contract Management : Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, particularly those involving data protection, data provision services, and technology agreements. Compliance Support : Help ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR and related global data privacy standards. Legal Research and Analysis : Conduct thorough legal research and provide insights into emerging trends and regulatory developments within the automotive industry, focusing on data privacy and IT law. Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with internal stakeholders to address legal questions, provide compliance guidance, and support the integration of legal best practices across departments. Policy Development and Training : Contribute to the creation and rollout of internal compliance policies, as well as staff training initiatives related to governance and legal compliance. Management of outside counsels: Coordinating and supervising the legal services provided by external law firms and Kia Europe GmbH’s data protection officer (DPO). Legislative Monitoring : Stay updated on legislative changes and industry best practices, ensuring that our organization is proactive in adapting to regulatory developments. Your talents: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, or a related legal qualification. Experience: Up to three years of relevant experience, preferably in a compliance, legal, or contract management role. Experience in automotive/mobility would be considered as a strong asset Knowledge: Familiarity with GDPR and data privacy laws is required; knowledge of IT law and the automotive sector is highly advantageous. Skills: Strong research and analytical skills, Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Proactive approach to identifying and solving legal issues. Ability to initiate, manage and deliver complex projects Strong motivation to work on new and unknown topics is needed Fluent written and verbal communication in both German and English Interpersonal abilities: Capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, demonstrating a high level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
