The Aircraft Mechanic 2 - Sheetmetal/Structures performs, and inspects aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on assigned aircraft.
1. Assemble structural parts and components to meet requirements.
2. Perform structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
3. Assemble repairs using special fasteners and adhesives.
4. Ability to use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.
5. Use metalworking equipment and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
6. Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign, fabricate, or replace defective components or assemblies.
7. Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.
8. Maintain and inspect tools and equipment.
9. Assess damage to aircraft structural components.
10. Check repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
11. Treat corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
12. Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
13. Post entries and maintain maintenance and inspection records.
14. Input, validate, and analyze data processed to automated systems. Clears and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
15. Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
16. Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
17. Perform additional duties as required.
18. Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
19. High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
20. Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is required.
21. FAA A&P OR FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required.
22. All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.
23. If No A&P, must possess an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3) And Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned ( CH-47, UH-60, AH-64 ) Mission Design Series (MDS).
24. (If willing and able to obtain an FCC License, discuss with Recruiter).
25. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, NAC-I T1 Public Trust. ** US Citizenship is required to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.
26. Interim NACI approval required for deployment.
27. Valid US Passport Required for deployment to Germany.
Germany Specific:
28. TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
29. Travel: As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
30. Possess the level of experience necessary to inspect, replace, modify, or repair all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed on structural, mechanical, and electrical systems assigned.
31. Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data including schematics and engineering drawings.
32. Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, scales, and TMDE (test measurement and diagnostic equipment) related to specific aircraft models.
33. Knowledge of aircraft construction features; identification and characteristics of aerospace materials; repair of metal, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components; shop drawing and sheet metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings; proper use, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
34. Able to provide technical assistance to customer in regards to aircraft structural maintenance.
35. Knowledge of quality, production, and supply processes required to perform job assignment.
36. Experience operating basic sheet metal shop equipment: band saw, drill press, belt sander, shrinker/stretcher, floor shear, sheet metal brake, pan and box brake.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
37. Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
38. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
39. Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
40. Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide
