At the Fraunhofer Institute of Interfacial and Biochemical Engineering IGB, we combine biology and technology in our business areas Health, Sustainable Chemistry, and Environmental and Climate protection. We develop processes, technologies and products that enable the industrial application of new solutions for patient-centred healthcare, a sustainable bioeconomy as well as a climate-neutral and resource-efficient circular economy. At our locations in Stuttgart, Leuna, Straubing, and Biberach we carry out research in close collaboration with numerous universities in Germany and abroad.
The department of Cell and Tissue Technologies is located in the main institute in Stuttgart and focuses on animal-free in vitro test alternatives. The New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), for the preclinical testing of efficacy and toxicity of substances, has enormous potential for applied research. The department has been working in the field of cell and molecular biology for more than 25 years and has extensive expertise in the genetic modification of cells and the development of genetically modified cell lines as well as in the establishment of complex tissues e.g., human in vitro skin models. The department's portfolio includes its own and patented 2D in vitro test and screening systems as well as various skin models and disease models of the skin. Of course, the department is also involved in the differentiation of organoids from hiPSC and the establishment of different spheroids.
The position is aimed at people with professional experience in research and development who are interested in contributing to the further successful development of the department in a scientifically excellent and great team and working in a highly specialized environment under excellent conditions in an area with great challenges and excellent future prospects.

* Planning, coordination and support of research projects in the field of Cell and Tissue technologies with a focus on practical and market-oriented solutions

What you bring to the table
* University degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical biotechnology / molecular biotechnology or related fields
* A completed PhD in a relevant research area and/or an internationally visible scientific excellence
* In-depth knowledge and skills in (stem)cell and tissue technology e.g., organoids, molecular biotechnology
* Professional experience in leading projects or teams, preferably in applied research or industry
* Strong experience and interest in project acquisition and implementation of research and development projects with national and international partners with a particular focus on industrial cooperation
* A high degree of initiative and personal responsibility
* Very good knowledge of written and spoken German and English

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis, Minimum working time share of 75%. The position is initially limited to two years - a long-term cooperation is sought.
