Head of Design
HIGHCAT is a dynamic startup in the security sector providing drones to militaries, police forces and fire departments within Europe. We are determined to be the Western standard of drones in both the B2G and B2B sectors. Located in the outskirts of Konstanz, the HIGHCAT office is encompassed by nature where our collaborative team design, innovate and manufacture our drone portfolio. Our diverse, small but growing company has 10+ employees with 3+ different nationalities. We are searching for a Product Designer to start ASAP.

What you will do
* Lead the end-to-end product design process for our drones – from early sketches and clay models to refined CAD models (with our engineers)
* Develop and define the brand's visual language, including its emotional tone and identity across products and communications from scratch
* Guide and manage a growing team covering UI/UX, web design, print, and other brand-related disciplines (currently working with freelancers)
* Take over products in early prototype stage to ensure design intent is integrated from the ground up
* Collaborate (and sometimes push back) on engineering decisions to uphold strong design principles
* Build and structure an in-house design studio, including hands-on work with clay modeling
* Create concepts, mood boards, and high-quality renderings to communicate vision and direction
Education and Experience
* Degree in Industrial Design or a related field
* Hands-on experience in building clay models and physical prototypes
* Proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (or comparable design tools)
* Skilled in creating print materials, moodboards, sketches, and renderings to communicate design intent
* Solid experience with CAD software and rendering tools
* Demonstrated understanding of aesthetics, ergonomics, and user-centered design principles
* Experience with government agencies is a plus
* Problem-solving abilities
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Fluent in German and at least written and spoken English (official company language); other languages are a plus
