Automated Greenhouse Expert - Automation (all genders)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. You support the execution of research experiments, including planning, application, evaluation and data analysis
2. You serve as technical expert for the operation of the automated greenhouse, including trouble shooting and maintenance planning
3. You provide hands-on support for all phases of the greenhouse and phenotyping automation including concept development, prototyping, design, procurement, construction, start-up, testing, deployment, and sustainment of automated systems
4. You partner with various engineering disciplines, customers, and vendors/suppliers to ensure with the user team the successful operation and continuous development of greenhouse automation
5. As part of a research team, you provide technical inputs, knowledge transfer and guidance for other functional teams and team members to ensure smooth operation of the automated greenhouse
WHO YOU ARE
6. Degree in plant science, mechanical engineering, technical professions with a biological background, agriculture, horticulture or similar, either with a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with technical training
7. In-depth experience in plant physiology, automation processes (greenhouse automation) and applications of sensor technology, phenotyping and image analysis is a big plus as well as experience in experimental design and data analysis, including experimental design, statistical analysis and data visualization
8. Greenhouse experience with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on automation troubleshooting experience
9. Experience with MS Office, computer and/or software systems used in scientific data analysis with the ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools such as Spotfire
10. Excellent organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills, and effective implementation of operational strategies with a “can do” attitude
11. Ability to deal very well with a constantly changing and complex research environment as well as a high level of self-motivation, personal responsibility, proactivity, and the ability to make decisions
12. High level of interpersonal skills, strong communication skills and the ability to drive stakeholder management in a dynamic, highly collaborative work environment
13. Willingness to occasionally work weekends to ensure automation flow
14. Fluent in German, both written and spoken, and good English skills complete your profile
