Introduction to the Position
Our client, a rapidly expanding company based in Ludwigshafen, is looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead their accounting team and play a key role in driving strategic financial operations. This pivotal leadership position involves overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, leading an ERP implementation project, building a centralized service centre, and managing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities. As the Director of Accounting, you will help shape the financial direction of the company, ensuring operational efficiency and supporting the integration of systems and processes across the business. Your Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring the smooth execution of daily accounting operations
2. Oversee the implementation of a new ERP system, optimizing processes and integrating financial workflows
3. Develop and establish a centralized service centre to streamline accounting and financial operations
4. Manage M&A activities, providing leadership in financial due diligence, integration, and reporting
5. Design and implement financial strategies to support business growth and operational efficiency
6. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements
7. Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts, offering strategic financial insights to senior leadership
8. Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, internal controls, and reporting frameworks
9. Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment
Desired Qualifications
1. Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken)
2. Proven experience in accounting leadership, with expertise in managing teams and large-scale projects
3. Extensive experience in ERP implementation, particularly with NetSuite or similar systems
4. Background in mergers and acquisitions, with expertise in financial due diligence and integration
5. Strong understanding of financial reporting, tax regulations, and local accounting standards
6. Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
7. Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams
8. A background in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required
9. CPA, ACA, or equivalent qualifications are a plus
