Role: Senior Product Owner Location: Mainz, Germany Duration: 6-12 month rolling contract Working Mode: Remote with occasional travel Job Description: Project Context: The IPS project focuses on introducing an integrated IT solution for the planning and implementation of resources for locomotives (Tfz) and locomotive drivers (Tf). The role of the Senior Product Owner is essential for managing and prioritizing features within the agile framework, collaborating with business analysts and development teams, ensuring TAF/TSI conformity, and providing technical leadership across multiple sub-products. Additionally, the Senior Product Owner will coach the project team and stakeholders on agile methodologies. The project includes a nationwide rollout in 2025, as well as training for users, and will last until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of contract extensions. Services Required: Backlog Management: Collaborating with business analysts to define and prioritize features and user stories in the sprint backlog. Agile Leadership: Coaching the project team and stakeholders on agile working methods in coordination with project management. Stakeholder Collaboration: Ensuring strong communication and cooperation with other Product Owners to manage dependencies and identify interactions in the development process. Test Management: Define test cases for regression testing, in cooperation with test management teams, based on the technical requirements. Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Supporting risk analysis, including those related to interfaces, performance, and data consistency. Quality Assurance: Ensuring the implementation of high-quality software solutions in line with business and technical requirements. Documentation: Preparation and documentation of technical requirements in both German and English. Nationwide Rollout Support: Ensuring smooth deployment of the IT solution across multiple locations, including user training. Project Details: Location: The project will be executed in Mainz, Germany, with a combination of remote and onsite service provision. Regular onsite activities are expected, particularly during project workshops. Service Provision: The service provider will work independently and self-organized, delivering the Senior Product Owner role. This includes managing and prioritizing the product backlog, working with other stakeholders, and ensuring that technical and business requirements are met for the IPS solution. Technical Requirements: Experience: 5 years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar leadership role in agile software development. Proven experience in working with agile teams, including the use of Scrum or SAFe frameworks. Experience in IT development in the transport and logistics industry, particularly in resource management and schedule management. Experience with software solutions like DELMIA Quintiq and Camunda in the context of resource management and timetable management. Proven experience in the creation and prioritization of user stories and managing product backlogs for large, complex, interdisciplinary software projects. Experience with offshore development teams and coordinating international work across teams. Experience in implementing test cases, particularly for regression and performance testing, in close collaboration with test management. Experience coaching teams in agile methodologies and serving as a mentor to both internal and external stakeholders. Proven track record in managing cross-functional product teams and ensuring timely delivery in complex, agile projects. Skills: Agile Methodologies: Strong skills in Scrum and SAFe, with experience leading agile teams and implementing agile processes. Backlog Management: Deep understanding of how to create and prioritize features, user stories, and technical requirements in collaboration with business analysts and stakeholders.
