Lightspeed is looking for talented and experienced Senior Java Developers. As a Backend developer you will be supporting Lightspeed's Hospitality product group on the mission to expand our reach into new markets and countries while enhancing our advanced hospitality commerce platform. You will work on a variety of projects that will have a tremendous impact on the daily life of thousands of customers all over the world and help bring local communities to life.
As a Senior Java developer you’ll be working closely together with our Product Managers, Designers, other Developers and our Support team in order to provide tailored and innovative solutions for the market.
What you’ll be responsible for
1. Creating and extending functionality of our products
2. Developing clean,highly maintainable and well tested code
3. Develop and evolve our overall backend architecture
4. Extending our continuous integration / continuous deployment environment
5. Working as part of a team (squad) to deliver product features and functionality
6. As part of a squad you get to work with our Product Managers, Architects and Principal developers
7. Extending your very own skills by learning from and growing with the team
What you’ll be bringing to the team
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Excellent foundational knowledge of the Java programming language
10. Good knowledge of the Java ecosystem:
11. Spring, Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem
12. Maven (or Gradle)
13. Testing frameworks like Mockito, Junit, Spock, Testcontainers, Cucumber
14. JPA, Hibernate or other ORM
15. Other common libraries and tooling like Lombok, Liquibase, Mapstruct, etc
16. Experience with relational/SQL (eg. MySQL) databases.
17. Experience writing automated unit and functional tests with one of the frameworks.
18. Solid foundation of knowledge in computer science
19. Able to analyse and debug production problems, incidents and performance issues.
Even better if you have, but not necessary
20. Experience in multiple Java ecosystem frameworks.
21. Experience scaling Microservice architectures and implementing advanced patterns of distributed and fault tolerant systems
22. Experience with non-relational/NoSQL (eg. DynamoDB, Redis) databases
23. Experience working in an Agile development environment
24. Experience with cloud environments like AWS or GCP and their products
25. Experience with Kafka or other real time messaging systems (eg. Pub/Sub)
26. Computer Sciences degree or equivalent
27. Experience with Docker & Kubernetes and running Java containers in the cloud
28. Experience in building and maintaining a CI/CD pipeline
29. Knowledge on Security topics (authentication and authorisation patterns, OAuth2, PKI, etc)
