To strengthen our team in the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering in Bochum, we are looking to fill the following position
at the earliest possible date:
*Professorship (W2) for Transport Engineering, in particular Cycling *
Sustainable mobility is a research focus at Bochum
University of Applied Sciences, which is to be further developed and
additionally strengthened with the professorship advertised here.
The subject area of ‘Cycling’ is currently already represented in
the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is to be
developed into an independent professorship. The professorship will
be funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and established in
co-operation with the city administration of Bochum.
The focus of the professorship to be created here is on the
integrated planning, construction and CAD-supported design of cycle
traffic facilities. Courses in these topics are to be held in the
Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Civil and Environmental
Engineering and Sustainable Development. The subject area also
includes planning procedures for the approval of cycling facilities,
road traffic law, road safety and the operation and maintenance of
cycling facilities. Further content can be introduced depending on
previous experience and interest.

*Your tasks:*
* Teaching courses in Bachelor's and Master's degree
programs
* Inclusion of students and researchers in externally
funded projects
* Supplementing and deepening application-oriented
research on cycling
* Co-operation with the department responsible for
transport in the state of NRW and the city administration of
Bochum
* Strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation with the
departments of Bochum University of Applied Sciences
* Expansion and operation of a ‘bicycle laboratory’
(technical equipment for the realization and evaluation of
real-world laboratories, among other things)
* Active participation in university self-administration
and integration of aspects of sustainability as well as
gender and diversity in teaching and research
*Your profile:*
* Completed university degree in a subject relevant to the
professorship and relevant doctorate
* Several years of professional experience in the field of
transport, especially cycling
* Ideally experience in academic teaching and interest in
working with our students
* Ideally experience in the acquisition and implementation
of publicly or industrially funded research projects or
practical projects
* Ability and willingness to teach and publish in German
is obligatory
* Ability and willingness to teach and publish in English

The recruitment requirements according to § 36 of the NRW Higher
Education Act apply. For this professorship, the three years of
professional experience outside the university sector can be
