Our group « Communication Systems » is seeking a motivated student to work with our link-level and system-level simulation environments, and ensure compatibility with requirements from 3GPP and ORAN. The simulation results are expected to support Fraunhofer’s contributions to the ongoing standardization activities. This topic provides an exciting opportunity for detailed research and development involving next-generation communication standards with integrated AI/ML solutions. You are interested in combining research and practices and would like to develop further in the field of 6G standardization and AI/ML? Then have a look at our offer You familiarize yourself with the content of the ongoing standards discussions. This will include 3GPP and ORAN specifications related to AI/ML and mobility management. You extend the simulation frameworks to generate datasets according to selected case studies in the standards discussions for training and testing the AI/ML algorithms. You compare performance of different supervised and self-supervised algorithms for implementation of AI/ML-based prediction in radio resource management. You are knowledgeable in fundamental principles of wireless communications and networking. You have experience with data analytics and application of AI/ML algorithms. You are familiar with communication standards such as 3GPP, DVB, ETSI, IEEE or ORAN. You are experienced in MATLAB and Python. You have worked with frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. You can start from now on (as a student assistant from 15 to 20 hours a week or as an intern for a period of at least three months ). You will also have the opportunity to work on a bachelor's or master's thesis in cooperation with us in the above-mentioned subject area.
