The Logistics Support Branch is responsible for providing specialized, centralized support functions to the E-3A Component spanning personnel and cargo movement for all contingency and deployment related activities. The Shipping & Receiving Section processes the receipt of materiel and is the supply focal point for all customs declarations. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the timely receipt, identification and verification and correctness of delivery for all incoming consignments and customs declarations. Processes shipments to off base organizations. Resolves with the Materiel Management Branch, NATO Supply and Procurement Agency (NSPA) representatives and other sources of supplies/repair. To find out more about the background, please visit our Homepage https\://awacs.nato.int/ How to apply\: Video THE ROLE The incumbent's duties are: Efficient assisting in the management of the Shipping & Receiving Section and allocated resources; Co-ordinating, supervising and controlling the qualitative and quantitative inspection on material to be shipped and on material received in accordance with the current procedures, contractual and technical criteria; Co-ordinating the material flow of material to be shipped and received to and from off-base organizations; Ensuring equipment and facilities of the Shipping & Receiving Section are maintained in good order; Verifying outbound and inbound consignments for correctness, manifests, bills of loading and/or customs documentation; Initiating research as required to respond to inquiries from Procurement/Programme Offices/Divisions and Customs authorities; Ensuring prioritized processing of material for verification and distribution; Maintaining historical statistical data for monitoring workload, trends, productivity and cost-effectiveness; Ensuring imported goods are declared to the German Customs authorities; Administering the Internet Customs application Automated Customs Tariff and Local processing Applications System (ATLAS); Managing frustrated cargo to ensure a reference is provided for non-processed material; Investigating and resolving discrepancies related to received goods and submitting transportation claims; Maintaining current knowledge of customs, railway and freight forwarding tariffs regulations; Ensuring all goods delivered to the section are properly in-checked and processed for shipment; Supervises Carpentry and ensures fabricated wooden crates and boxes are manufactured iaw technical orders and drawings; Ensures manufactured wooden crated and boxes comply with host nation regulation in regard to heat-treated wood; Maintains the document control file for all receipts and shipments processed though his/her office; Ensuring compliance with E-3A Component safety and security regulations; Assisting in maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) applicable to the section; Ensuring that all classified material and potentially hazardous cargo are correctly processed; Resolving discrepancies with respective internal and external organizations, including sources of supply/repair; Reporting transportation claims and statements of damage and loss; Performing, as working supervisor, a range of duties related to the activities of the Shipping & Receiving Section and especially those technical functions, which exceed the scope of responsibilities of section personnel; As functional area subject matter expert (SME), provides the LW Training Section inputs on training analysis, required level of learning and method of delivery related aspects; Producing training materials, including lesson plans, presentations and tests; Teaching, training and recommending qualification to LW Training Section; As functional area subject matter expert (SME), supports other LW training courses as directed; Conducting on the Job Training and advising newly assigned personnel. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Good working knowledge of a computer based logistics/supply management system acquired through at least 3 years function related, current professional experience; Good working knowledge of standard warehousing principles; Good working knowledge of European Union customs and dangerous goods regulations, especially those of the Host Nation; Good knowledge of material-handling, material-controlling, warehouse procedures and logistical processes exercised within the commercial industry; Good knowledge of the host nation customs regulation and the role NATO plays within these regulations (Truppenzollgesetz); Higher secondary education and intermediate vocational training which might lead to a formal qualification with 2 years experience, or secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years related experience; The work, both oral and written, in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole, is conducted mainly in English, therefore sufficient English proficiency is essential; Additionally, knowledge of the Host Nation language (German) is essential; Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required. THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE Previous NATO assignment; Experience working in an international/military environment; Experience with NATO supply procedures; Supervisory experience in a large military, industrial (preferably aerospace related) or commercial large storage facility; Experience in training personnel in a supply/storage related field; Experience in training development; Certified training in a computer based logistics/supply management information system. CONTRACT Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.
