We are looking for one highly motivated postdoc scientist (f/m/x) with extensive expertise in electrophysiology to join international research team "Astrocyte-Neuron Networks" lead by Prof. Dr. Cristina García Cáceres at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich.
You will develop and establish an experimental setup to study the glia-neuronal network in the brain, focusing on its role in the regulation of energy metabolism.

Get to know us
Design, execute, and refine electrophysiological and calcium imaging recording techniques to assess glia and neural activities.
Perform pharmacological modulation to investigate neural circuit activity in the context of metabolism and energy balance.
Lead data analysis efforts, applying advanced signal processing and statistical techniques to extract meaningful insights from electrophysiological and imaging data.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., molecular biology, bioinformatics) to integrate electrophysiological findings into broader research on neuroendocrinology and metabolism.
Prepare high-quality reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Participate in the preparation of publications in top peer-reviewed journals.
PhD level in a relevant field (Neuroscience, Physiology or similar).
Strong experience in electrophysiology and advanced imaging techniques (a minimum of 5 years related experience).
Experience working with murine models.
High motivation, flexibility, and a proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Desirable qualifications
Knowledge of neuroendocrinology and metabolism is highly desirable.

If you fulfil all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 2 years but may be extended under certain circumstances.
