Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Functional Lead for Vendor Oversight in our Medical Dictionary Application & Governance (MDAG) team. Tasks & responsibilities You will support the MDAG team in all operational oversight activities and drive continuous enhancements in this area. Ensuring compliance and consistency with regulatory requirements, as well as Boehringer Ingelheim's procedures and processes, will be your responsibility. You will lead vendor staff in a functional way and serve as the primary liaison between MDAG and the medical coding vendor at the operational level to ensure accurate and timely coding and dictionary updates. As part of a cross-functional team you will lead or participate in updates of Boehringer Ingelheim's medical coding conventions to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, global standards and internal needs. Resource allocation and work prioritization during times of heavy workload will be coordinated and planned by you. Collaboration with IT and BDS will be a key part of your role to ensure that Boehringer Ingelheim's coding systems meet requirements, and to implement necessary changes and system enhancements for efficiency and quality gains. You will design and develop SAS programs and macros to support vendor oversight, quality control, and dictionary maintenance tasks. Developing and defining agile approaches and medical coding solutions for new clinical trial concepts, such as digital studies, will be a part of your role, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency. You will lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives (e.g., CD&O, PSPV, BDS) in the development of continuous process improvements. Requirements A master's degree in a life science area with a technical focus (such as a data scientist in the medical area) or equivalent on-the-job experience Strong expertise in medical dictionaries and medical coding (MedDRA and WHODrug), ideally including use/development of standard/customized medical dictionary searches Experience in vendor management and oversight and a firm knowledge of the regulatory environment in Pharmacovigilance and GCP Analytical and SAS programming skills (including macro programming) with experience in clinical trial or PV databases Ability to make decisions independently and escalate to the next management level if needed Ability to prioritize workload and perform under stress in situations where working speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of the job Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and resolve issues effectively within and between departments Fluency in English and German Ready to contact us?
