Summer Semester 2025 - fixed-term for 3-6 months
Linked Data is a set of principles that is vital for the enterprise-wide data integration and harmonization at SICK. Therefore increasing the data literacy including a basic understanding of such principles is important. As part of a comprehensive training concept, one key aspect is the familiarization of so-called 'domain experts' with fundamental data modelling concepts. For this target group and purpose, a gamification concept has been derived and demonstrated. However, the state of the art lacks adequate tooling and intuitive interaction mechanisms to convey Linked Data principles. In this work, we will extend the current approach by a systematic UX design. A completed first iteration of usability tests with an ad-hoc UI will be the starting point. The final objective is a fully functional web application that allows a user to explore and learn about these fundamental concepts with a very strong support through intuitive, playful and motiviating interactions with the examples that best realize the intended effects of the gamification mechanisms. This work will focus on the fine-conceptualization and realization of a functional prototype.
