Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel for Export Control & Sanctions to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining an Internal Compliance Program (ICP) for Export Control and Sanctions, including the implementation of global policies and standards. This role involves advising senior management and the board, providing legal counseling to various departments, and engaging in project work and regulatory watch.
The position can be staffed in Hanover, Frankfurt am Main or Szeged (Hungary).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Internal Compliance Program (ICP) Development: Develop and maintain an Internal Compliance Program for Export Control and Sanctions, ensuring alignment with global policies and standards (Governance).
2. Senior Management and Board Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management and the board on matters related to Export Control and Sanctions compliance.
3. Legal Counseling: Offer legal counseling and advice to Centers of Competence, business units, and core central functions such as R&D, M&A, and Finance.
4. Project Work: Participate in and provide legal support for various projects related to Export Control and Sanctions.
5. Regulatory Watch: Monitor and analyze regulatory developments in Export Control and Sanctions to ensure compliance and inform relevant stakeholders.
6. Information Management: Manage and disseminate information related to Export Control and Sanctions compliance.
7. Training Development: Develop and deliver training programs on Export Control and Sanctions compliance for employees.
8. External Communication: Communicate with political entities, ministries, authorities, associations, and external counsels regarding Export Control and Sanctions matters.
Qualifications
9. Fully qualified and accredited lawyer with profound academic background
10. Several years of professional experience with legislative work and proceedings
11. Knowledge regarding development of policies and procedures;
12. Experience and insights in public authorities (beneficial)
13. Excellent knowledge of EU and profound knowledge of US (Re-) Export Control and Sanction law
14. Experience as lawyer (internal or external) helpful
15. Experience with the development of an EC Internal Compliance Program
16. Experience with international EC relevant working groups and/or organizations (beneficial)
17. Fluent English language skills written and spoken, German language skills beneficial
18. Independent working style, problem-solving and analytical skills
