The Faculty of Human Sciences, Structural Unit Educational Sciences, Department of Music and Art, at the University of Potsdam invites applications for the following position to be filled as soon as possible:
Full Professorship (W 3) for Music Education and Didactics
The successful candidate will have broad experience in teaching subject-specific and didactic foundations of music instruction, in the application or the development of innovative learning environments, primarily for the secondary school level as well as for academic teaching.
Responsibilities in teaching and research include representing the field in its full disciplinary breadth, the implementation of courses and class projects relating to subject-specific and teaching methodology issues for students of musical education at schools as well as the supervision of theses.
Contributions to empirical or theoretical research on teaching and learning in the field of music education and didactics are expected.
Relevant publications, preferably in peer reviewed journals, and participation in interdisciplinary research projects at the intersection of educational science, musicology, and teacher education are required.
Experience with the acquisition of external funding, international networking, and interdisciplinary cooperation are desired.
We are looking for outstanding candidates with a strong profile in teacher education and empirical educational research. Teacher education that is oriented towards the reality of schools and teaching, but also towards the current state of research, with a high proportion of practically oriented elements, constitutes an essential component of the University of Potsdam's profile. We expect a special commitment to the teacher training program, a willingness to continuously develop these programs, as well as active participation in the Center for Teacher Training and Educational Research (ZeLB) and in the «Potsdam Model» of teacher training together with the teacher training faculties. Knowledge of the German language and participation in teacher training courses are desirable.
