Research Assistant (PostDoc position in Cardiovascular-Renal Research) (m/f/d)
to begin on October, 1st, 2024, running for three years. The regular weekly working hours amount to 100% of a full-time position. The salary will be according to the German TV-L 13 pay scale.
The Institute of Anatomy at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel is a dynamic institute with international and interactive groups and with access to world-class facilities. The research group of Prof. Dr. Franziska Theilig (Cardiovascular and Renal research) is working on the epigenetic regulation leading to the progression of diabetes mellitus induced organ failure and in the progression of renal glomerular diseases including the development of hypertension and edema formation. The working languages are German, English and French. The research is done in a collaborative network with leading labs in Kiel, other labs in Germany, and abroad. Moreover, Kiel is a beautiful city located at the Baltic Sea offering excellent opportunities for cultural and outdoor activities.
We are seeking outstanding and highly motivated candidates for a Research Assistant position within the Institute of Anatomy at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany. The proposed project involves
1. Epigenetic regulation progressing diabetic nephropathy
2. Mechanisms of volume regulation in edema-forming diseases, such as nephrotic syndrome, preeclampsia or chronic heart insufficiency.
Generated transgenic mouse models are already available in our animal facility. Techniques include animal experiments, physiological and morphological analysis including high resolution STED microscopy of newly generated conditional knockout mice models combined with in vitro experimental approaches; cell biology, biochemical methods, molecular biology, and epigenetic analysis including ATACseq, CpG island analysis and proteomic analysis. Experience in bioinformatic analysis in epigenetics and proteomics, with mouse work and cell culture is an advantage. Candidates with either an MD or PhD in Medicine, Medical Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology or a closely related field may apply. Previous experience with basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques as well as a sound understanding of mammalian cell culture and animal experiments and fluency in written as well as spoken English and excellent communication skills is appreciated.
