Role description We are looking for a hands-on Flavourist to support our mission to design innovative taste solutions and co-create signature products with our customers. As a member of our team, Flavour Development Tobacco & Nicotine, you will work with your R&D colleagues and our technical sales team at Hertz Flavors to exceed our customers' expectations and create novel, signature products. Your Mission Independent development of new flavour solutions as part of innovation and customer projects that meet the project brief's technical and market-specific regulatory and sensory requirements. Collaboration with the application and development department in the development of new successful product-integrated flavour solutions Optimization and development of flavours with the help of analytical and test data (including chromatographic (especially GC-MS) evaluations) from the Flavour Analytics and Sensory & Consumer Science departments Tasting of end products (including nicotine) and sensory evaluation with internal and external project participants Adaptation of flavours to special technological requirements, regional market requirements or special customer specifications Support with customer visits at home and abroad Contribution to sales, innovation and product management Technical expert advisor for selecting flavours for customer projects, as well as a partner of choice for internet and external customers through technical expertise and problem-solving skills. Sensory evaluation and tasting of flavours from our portfolio (on various nicotine products) for use in specific customer projects, together with Technical Sales. Participation in creative workshops and product portfolio reviews for the continuous development of our product range. Support of the portfolio management of our raw materials, including participation in sensory panels to select new items and technologies Support of QC in the sensory evaluation of raw materials and end products, as well as finding solutions to problems with raw materials and flavors together with QC and production. Collaboration and documentation in the area of knowledge and innovation management Minimum Qualifications Master degree of Science in Chemistry, Food Science/Chemistry/Technology or comparable education You are trained as a favourite and have at least 5 years of proven successful experience as a flavourist Excellent sensory skills, willingness to experiment and a high degree of creativity Experience in evaluating data from instrumental analytics (especially GC/LC-MS) Knowledge of food and flavor law International mindset and cosmopolitanism Self-driven, organizational talent, ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility and reliability with the mentality to always go beyond when working on solutions. Ability to make well-founded decisions in a dynamic environment and to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently within tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact productively on internal/external basis. IT affinity and confident use of common MS Office programs Fluent English Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of tobacco and nicotine products is an advantage Local market knowledge on key trends, customer needs and local tastes.
