Who are we looking for?
Element Solutions Supply Chain's mission is to enhance our competitive market advantage by leveraging performance across manufacturing, purchasing, sourcing, quality, and regulatory functions. By providing structure and coordination of key processes and critical information across the company’s global Supply Chain, the team delivers results which improve profitability, optimize costs, and increase efficiencies. The Manager Customs & Trade role is accountable for ensuring ESI’s dispersed operating units are compliant with all applicable customs and trade regulations including AEO. Success in this position will be largely predicated on the employee’s ability to stay “ahead of the curve” and lead a culture of proactive planning as opposed to reactive response.
What will you be doing?
* Manage audit requests by facilitating activities of relevant functions (operations, customs, legal, finance, etc.), address audit failures, and fix root causes
* Assist with deploying and managing a compliance framework, including a Customs Trade Handbook, that will be followed by import and export managers at the business/site level
* Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities which optimize costs by utilizing duty mitigation strategies including but not limited to tariff number reviews, inward processing, etc.
* Develop productive working relationships with all relevant regulatory entities and external administrators assigned to ESI.
* Partner with transportation and logistics managers at the sites to ensure that strategic and operational metrics are in-line with best practices
* Partner with sourcing and purchasing managers at all levels to implement new solutions and track supplier performance
* Ensure that all customs practitioners at ESI have access to the latest regulatory, research, advisory, and best practices resources
* Manage and review recordkeeping requirements for imports and exports
* Determine tariff numbers for new products within the region
* Determine export controls, export license requirements, sanctioned country determination, CWC requirements
* Apply for AEO certification
Who are You?
* Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs management or a similar role.
* In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
* Strong experience in auditing, process improvement, and project management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in customs software and Microsoft Office Suite.
