Job Description
Moving mountains together - for the AIMS (Analytical Innovation & Mass Spectrometry) Team in the NBE Analytical R&D Department at AbbVie’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany, we are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to conduct hands-on indepth characterization of large protein complexes (e.g. toxins) as well as biotherapeutic proteins. This is an excellent opportunity for scientists with a strong background in structural biology/chemistry and mass spectrometry to deepen their knowledge in higher order structure characterization of biopharmaceuticals.
Your responsibilities:
* Analysis and characterization of mAbs, AAVs and other modalities in regards of Higher Order Structure
* Optimization of established HDX-MS workflow and implementation of new HDX-based methods
* Maintenance of the relevant instrumentation
* Reporting and presenting of results in local and global meetings
Qualifications
* Scientist II: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience in chemistry, (structural) biology or related field
* Post-Doc: PhD or equivalent experience, ideally first experience in chemistry, (structural-)biology or a related discipline
* Senior Scientist I: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically, 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no (or some) experience necessary in chemistry, (structural) biology or related field
* You have extensive knowledge in HDX-MS, DEPC-labelling or FPOP
* Experience with characterization of biopharmaceuticals (e.g. mAbs) is a plus
* During your scientific career you have built strong expertise and hands-on experience in the characterization of large protein complexes
* You like to drive scientific initiatives as well as to shape the analytical strategy in the protein characterization landscape
* As a highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented person with excellent communication and presentation skills you are driven by innovative ways of thinking to improve processes, methods, systems, products or services
* You are well known to be an excellent team player with the ability to build strong networks with peers who has a strong desire for the application of new techniques and innovative solutions
* As a global acting company we presume excellent communication skills, including written and oral English and basic knowledge of German
