Hauptaufgaben
The primary purpose for this job is to: serve as a Mobile Equipment Service Technician with the 405th Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB) BASOPS Maintenance Directorate (BMD) by repairing and inspecting special purpose vehicles and equipment.
Carry out repairs and inspects a wide variety of makes and models of special purpose vehicles and equipment, i.e. construction equipment, forklifts, firefighting equipment, sewage trucks, street sweepers, generators, cranes, truck platforms, trailers, tactical vehicles, etc. Work performed includes a complete diagnosis of failures and corresponding hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, mechanic, minor body repair and spot painting work. Work requires the application of various technical state-of-the-art procedures and methods with varying degrees of complexity to achieve high quality work output. The majority of work is performed on-site in very small teams, and is often performed under severe conditions (i.e. open air, wet ground, adverse climatic influences) and with limited availability of machinery and tools. Transports and/or arranges for transportation of vehicles/equipment from customer locations to repair shop (either in-house or contractor). Reads and applies schematics of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Decides on the most efficient method of repair to achieve high quality standards at lowest cost. Searches for and applies solutions caused by specific circumstances, i.e. severe on-site conditions. Repairs vehicle components. Within authorized limits releases equipment to operators/customers, performs safety inspections in accordance with Host Nation Regulations (Unfallverhuetungsvorschriftsinspektion). Participates in formal training of apprentices and advises/trains junior journeymen mechanics. Performs Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) inspections IAW Army in Europe Regulation 190-1 and advises customers and POV owners on all technical methods
Plans and coordinates for the availability of material and equipment required to perform work (vehicle pre-load). Identifies repair parts required and submits requirements to shop supply for purchase. Accounts for material, time and equipment used. Performs vehicle inspection report. Initiates bench stock replacement.
Performs other duties as assigned.

C-4A:
Following qualification standards apply for internal placements. E&T Levels I: PLUS 2 years of creditable experience as defined below.
E&T Levels II: PLUS 1 year of creditable experience, as defined below
Creditable experience: Journeyman or equivalent level experience in the trade or in a closely related trade that is to be performed in the position. E&T Levels III A, IV A, B, and C, are creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; no additional experience required. E&T level, III B, C and IV D and V are not creditable to use for substitution of experience. Individuals with these E&T Levels must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.
Exceptions:
Current employees in the same or similar inspector or specialist positions who have served one year in their current grade qualify for the next higher grade, regardless of their E&T Level. (2) Current employees who have served one year in a foreman position without official certification as foreman (Meisterbrief) in the same or similar occupation qualify up to the C-6 level. (3) In the absence of qualified applicants, a waiver of qualification requirements may be initiated in order to promote or reassignment current employees who have already been performing same or similar work.
2. Following qualification standards apply for external placement:
E&T level I, IIA, IIIB and C and IV D: Not acceptable for positions in this occupational series.
E&T Levels IIB: is creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; PLUS 1 year of creditable experience as defined below.
E&T Level IIIA, IV A, B, and C: Only creditable with a directly or closely related apprenticeship or specialization/certification to the trade of the position; no additional experience required.
E&T Level V: creditable with a directly or closely related field of study to the trade of the position. Otherwise, the individuals must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the trade of the position.
Creditable experience: Journeyman or equivalent level experience in the trade or in a closely related trade that is to be performed in the position.
Exceptions: In the absence of qualified applicants, a waiver of qualification requirements may be initiated
