Insufflators, pumps and disposable tube sets, along with medical visualization and operating room integration technologies are the preferred solution for minimally invasive surgery applicationsThe Manager Strategic Procurement is a key part of the MIS Global Supply Chain Team working closely with Operational Purchasing, Quality, Logistics, R&D, Finance teams and Suppliers; focused on meeting Novanta’s needs in cost, quality, delivery, service, and technology. You will create ongoing business relationships with key suppliers to provide added value to the business, including ownership to manage the planning, execution, and implementation of Sourcing NPI and VAVE Projects. In this role, you will provide professional leadership to a team of strategic buyers as well as delivering successful project management from 2 critical metrics: Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) and Material Productivity (Best TCO). Successful candidate will have (1) strong leadership skills; (2) good project management skills; (3) strong communication skills; (4) ability to assess risks and champion recovery plans; (5) strong understanding and interpretation of engineering and technical documentation; (6) highly influential through data and (7) ability to run project status team meetings/calls.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of strategic buyersResponsible for effectively managing all materials spend for MIS division by analyzing total spend, identifying key aggregation opportunities, and creating programs to leverage spend at the highest possible level for the maximum possible impact.Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continual performance expectations are met and year over year productivity is achieved by conducting proper supplier management techniques.Act as lead negotiator for major supplier agreements.Project management ownership of Sourcing NPI & VAVE Projects from transition (Category buyers) to implementation (Sourcing NPI & Productivity).Represents Strategic Purchasing in TCO/Engineering project reviews and supports NPI/cost reduction initiatives/resourcing and communicates assessment on (1) project status and (2) risks and opportunities.Standardizes project management process to communicate: Project timeline, project completion date, FAI, qualification, inventory ramp up/ramp down analysis, cut-in date analysis, project savings waterfall, savings calculations, etc.Partners with Operational purchasing/Supply chain team to model and document inventory ramp up and ramp down to support on time/on cost NPI & VAVE project implementation.Owns management and reporting MIS Bowler financials: AOP, Savings, KPIs, Supplier Quality, Supplier OTD, Supplier Risk Reduction, Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) etc.Supports budget and planning process with modeling and maintenance of project waterfall including impact from carryover and new projects.Keep current on category market, cost drivers and economic outlook to guide category strategy.Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and CompetenciesBachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university.Several years of working experience in a similar role or related field (i.e., sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, etc), specifically in the medical industry.Ability to combine data, good judgment, and intuition to drive improvements and make timely business decisions.Collaborate effectively across a diverse network to learn and improve.
