RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the Analytical & Material Science division, our group "GC, Chemical Structures & Phys.Chem. Data" offers structure elucidation, quantification and gas analysis with the help of gas chromatographic methods as well as physical and chemical data for clients along BASF's entire value chain.
* The focus of your work is on the development of novel gas chromatographic methods for the separation and analysis of complex mixtures to enable the transformation of the chemical industry.
* You will troubleshoot instrumentation issues and implement solutions to ensure reliable operation of GC systems.
* Your work will include data analysis using software tools to quantify analytes and interprete chromatograms.
* You will be involved in trans-technologically and interdisciplinarily projects, including BASF´s strategic sustainability projects in the area of recycling / using waste as feedstock for a circular economy.
* In addition, you will write research proposals and scientific manuscripts.
* Last but not least, you will be responsible for comprehensibly communicating and documenting the results to partners within research as well as external partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field
* Strong background in gas chromatography techniques and instrumentation
* Proficiency in analytical method development, optimization, and troubleshooting
* Experience with data analysis and data evaluation
* Strong project management skills
* Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German
* Joy to use digital tools and to actively search optimization potential for own processes through improved data management and automation
