We are looking for a Head of Medical Affairs (m/f/d) Germany to lead a team of managers for patient engagement, customer care (UCBCares), and the medical governance unit including risk management, information officer, transparency, and data privacy experts in our German affiliate organization in Monheim am Rhein, Germany.
About the role
The Head of Medical Affairs develops and executes the medical excellence strategy in close cooperation with the Asset Medical Heads in the German UCB organization. You will provide strategic and operational input on the value of UCB’s current and future asset portfolio. You will drive an innovative and adaptive mindset, build required capabilities, and foster an agile culture and infrastructure to maximize outcomes for patients and UCB. Together with your team, you will build and maintain relationships with key customers, regulators, health authorities, patient associations, and KOLs. You will be accountable for medical performance and contribute to the objectives of UCB Germany, ensuring compliance and the highest quality in all activities to the code of conduct, regulations, and legal requirements.
Who you’ll work with
Externally, you will work with key customers, regulators, health authorities, patient associations, and KOLs. Internally, you will have direct line management of the Medical Affairs team including patient engagement, customer care, medical governance, transparency, information officer, and data privacy. You will closely collaborate with the Medical Asset Heads for Immunology and Rare & Epilepsy, the Compliance team, and the EU and Global Medical Affairs teams. You will be part of the German Leadership Team (GLT).
What you’ll do
1. Management of Medical Governance Stakeholders:
o Ensure compliance and the highest quality in all activities of UCB Germany based on the code of conduct, healthcare regulations, and legal requirements. Medical governance and knowledge for UCB portfolio of products and therapeutic areas.
o Ensure Business Continuity plans are in place and risk databases are updated according to company procedures.
2. Medical Excellence
o Develop and execute the medical excellence strategy in close cooperation with the Asset Medical Heads and the GLT, ensuring best-in-class customer experience for KOLs, patients, and physician associations, and healthcare authorities.
3. Organize, oversee, and coordinate the German Pharma Network
o Chair the German Pharma Network team consisting of Pharmacovigilance, Quality, Regulatory, Compliance, and Safety.
o Ensure that all Pharmacovigilance, Safety, Quality, Compliance, and Safety-related risks are appropriately escalated in a timely manner and corrective actions are in place.
o Optimize affiliate compliance activities' effectiveness and efficiency.
Interested? For this role, we’re looking for the following education, experience, and skills:
* >10 years' experience in healthcare Medical, Access, or Compliance leadership positions.
* >3 years' experience leading multidisciplinary and/or matrixed teams.
* Profound knowledge of relevant legal and compliance requirements in healthcare.
* Outcome and result-oriented, highly structured leadership personality.
* Proven track record of positive audit outcomes, transparency reporting.
* Proven Change Management Skills.
* Professional fluency in German and English.
