We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. Data Center Engineering Operations Technician is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder. If you like to use apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems, we'd like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures. Key job responsibilities - SAFETY Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture. - ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers. o Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's) o Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) o Supervise contractor or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment. o Driving continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics. o Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts. o Lead the root cause analysis for operational issues, and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies. Physical requirements - Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations). - Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night) - On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls - Work at heights and from ladders; in a noisy environment with ear protection - Perform physical tasks during the shift About the team Diverse Experiences AWS values diverse experiences. Basic Qualifications - Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical/ Mechanical field or equivalent recognized training. - Broad operational knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical equipment. - Good English communication Preferred Qualifications - Data Center engineering experience or relevant job-related experience - Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline - Familiar with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) control systems and data collection/trending.
