A doctoral student position is available in the group of
Dr. Adrian Nievergelt
in the research project "Spatial proteomics and intracellular transport in microalgae" at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. The group of Dr. Adrian Nievergelt
is interested in the fundamental molecular processes that define how algal cells work, with a special focus on ciliary biology and intracellular transport mechanisms. The group works primarily on the green model alga Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii and uses precision genetic engineering, advanced light and electron microscopy, biochemical methods and custom built instrumentation.
Your profile:
* An MSc or equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related subject, preferably with a specialization in some prior experience in one or more of the following aspects:
* Molecular biology
* Protein biochemistry
* Proteomics
* Electron microscopy
* Light microscopy
* Good command of English (oral and written)
* Curiosity, a strong motivation to excel in science, and a ‘can-do’ attitude
* A collaborative mind-set and good communication skills
* Good organizational skills
