Description Summary: Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) is seeking a qualified Wargaming Specialist to support the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) located in Bydgoszcz, Poland to conduct pre-deployment training activities for current theatres of operations and other exercises and training events (TEs) as assigned by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT). The Wargaming Team enables support of NATO 2030 future training and exercise development through professional wargame design and execution. The team will contribute to all NATO Wargaming, and all projects and programs applicable to NATO Wargaming, to include MDO, Digital Transformation, Future Exercise Model, and Future Modelling & Simulation systems within NATO 2030 Key Requirement Areas ‘Military Thinking and Command’ and ‘Readiness’ and their subsequent areas NATO Wargaming Capability as well as NATO Training and Exercises. The overall responsibility of the Wargaming Team, under the guidance of the JFTC Officer of Primary Responsibility, is to receive, assess, design, execute, and analyze results of wargames for specific sponsors to drive their analytical decision making. The work of this team will create the conditions for further game, theory, and digital support system development within the command. The contracted Wargaming Specialist (WS) will be responsible to C4 Section Head, and directly subordinate to the Wargame Team Lead (OPR). The WSO will oversee all aspects of wargame planning with the focus on Corps Regional Plans assessment and a special focus on tailored scenario design per sponsor, in order to successfully analyze the sponsor’s problem statement. The WS will broadly oversee all aspects of professional gaming from design, through development, overseeing execution, and completing result analysis. The WS function within JFTC must also have the ability to define and manipulate captured game results data in support of scenario analysis. The WS is responsible through the Wargame Lead primarily for the manipulation of scenario design to examine specific problems; as a secondary function, to support other team functions in their overall scenario integration. Working with other members of the Wargaming, the WS will oversee the sponsor initiation, scoping, research, design briefings, and data collection/analysis planning necessary to facilitate the achievement of the sponsor’s analytic objectives. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Work collaboratively with the Wargaming Lead, Scenario Lead, Wargaming Database Engineer, and their respective superiors to establish coordination and production requirements. Work collaboratively with Modelling and Simulation (M&S) to facilitate simulation requirements. Work collaboratively with other concerned NATO and allied organizations to coordinate database and CAX system requirements. Understand the development necessary, with respect to professional wargaming, to facilitate game design and problem analysis (PA) achievement. Assist in the coordination of subject matter experts (SMEs) input and scenario research. Assist in the development of the required Wargaming products. Assist M&S in the development of CAX enabled baseline scenarios. Assist in the preparation and execution of sponsored Aim, Objective, and Desired Outcome specification events and design workshops. Assist in the development of Wargaming familiarization training. Develop and deliver various briefings/presentations with Wargaming related content. Provide critical input in support of active lesson-learning and best practice implementation. Archive and catalogue output in a retrievable digital archive. Requirements Required Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience (this may include academic studies in the field of wargaming) in running of all aspects of professional wargaming from programming through design and development, execution, and completion of result analysis. Significant first-hand experience in playing and facilitating and adjudication a combination of traditional board wargames and computer assisted wargames / serious games for analytical and/or educational purpose. Experience to provide expert instruction on wargaming theory, educational and analytical wargaming techniques, and on wargame facilitation. A relevant academic background such as a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Strategic Studies, National Security, International Relations, Operations Research, or a related field. Certification in wargaming from recognised military or civilian institutions. Expertise in digital tools for analysis, data visualization, and scenario development. Native English language speaker or individual presenting very good command of spoken and written English, with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing). Desired Qualifications: Experience integrating wargaming into military education, training exercises, decision-making, and operational planning cycles. Experience with and understanding of military operational planning and analysis, particularly in a comprehensive, joint and multinational environment. Knowledge and familiarity with commercial computer-based games as well as knowledge of military tactics and operations to enhance learning through decision-making exercises and games. Familiarity with military modelling & simulation systems (e.g., JCATS, JTLS, or other similar national simulation systems). A military background and attendance at military staff colleges or defense universities (e.g., NATO Defense College, U.S. Naval War College, etc.). Certifications related to NATO operations, planning, or training and exercises. Proven ability to lead and facilitate wargame events, working groups, or seminars. Experience in mentoring and training military and/or civilian personnel in wargaming methodologies and techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience communicating with military and/or civilian senior leaders and Subject Matter Experts. Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET security clearance.
