The Market Development Manager, Medical Device will play a central role in driving the growth and expansion of Klockner Pentaplast’s Medical Device packaging business. Key responsibilities include mapping of the European Medical Device market, identification of commercial growth opportunities, and building strategic relationships with medical device manufacturers. The Market Development Manager translates in-depth knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and regulatory requirements into strategies and new products that grow KP’s share of the European Medical Device market. The role can be based anywhere in Europe, preferably near one of our Medical Device production sites in Germany (Montabaur) or Portugal (Santo Tirso) or even with the ability to travel frequently to the sites.
Keytasks and responsibilities:
* Develops relationships with key stakeholders at device manufacturers, converters, and medical device trade associations with the goal of driving growth, market share, and brand awareness.
* Market mapping of the European Medical Device market including identification, sizing, and capabilities assessment of European customer base to quantify kp growth opportunities.
* Gathers voice of customer (VOC) and partners with Product Line Management and Innovation to ensure KP’s Medical Device portfolio continually meets evolving market needs.
* Leverages knowledge of KP capabilities to find adjacent markets and novel applications for expansion. Leads assessment of new commercial opportunities, create business cases and recommendations to leadership.
* Creates new commercial growth projects with medical device customers (including validation of KP products) and collaborates with cross-functional Commercialization teams for successful implementation.
* Works in close cooperation with Sales teams in the development of relationships with medical device customers and ensures successful conversion of opportunities and projects into growth of sales.
* Develops and strengthens KP relationships with key industry partners including proprietary raw material suppliers, lidding manufacturers, sterilization services, and trade associations.
* Builds a reputation in the market as a thought leader and expert. Represents KP on association committees, panels, and speaking engagements.
* Provides leadership with regular updates on market dynamics and recommends changes to commercial strategies as needed.
* Identifies external, market-based business risks and collaborates internally to put mitigation plans in place.
* Facilitates, in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications teams, promotional activities including, but not limited to, Trade shows, Technical Symposia, Association presentations, as well as case histories, technical articles, communication briefs for all new products in the product line.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S. – Business/Marketing major preferred) and 5 - 7 years related experience in market/business development roles in a manufacturing company; or equivalent combination of education and experience; a MBA would be a plus.
* Technical experience or background.
* Commercial leadership experience within the European Medical Device industry.
* Expertise in packaging / engineered materials with plastics experience preferred.
* Understanding of selling and marketing to large multi-national companies and converter.
* A “hands-on” approach to Commercial leadership with understanding of how to translate commercial growth opportunities into internal development projects.
* Comfortable working both strategically and tactically, including the ability to quickly transition from one to the other.
* A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective.
* Strong data analysis and presentation skills.
* Ability to communicate, open-mindedly, to be part of a cross functional global team.
* English fluency required. Fluency in additional European languages (German, French) a plus.
