Job Description
The Procurement Manager is responsible for the execution of the category & sourcing strategy for the "Wet Food" category, cost price reduction supplier management and developing a global sourcing network in their respective category. In particular, they work in close collaboration with Product Experts, Procurement & Inventory teams and Asia sourcing office.
Your tasks:
* Is accountable for divising, owning and implementing the category & sourcing strategy for their respective category
* Interacts closely with brand, product, and replenishment & inventory teams to align on overall priorities relevant for the planning and implementing of procurement activities
* Conducts global supplier sourcing, either individually or through the Asia sourcing office and manages supplier selection process for new and existing products in close cooperation with product and brand teams
* Collaborates closely with Sourcing Cost Analyst to analyze relevant global category & sourcing market environment and product cost developments to ensure data-driven preparation of procurement activities and negotiations
* Prepares and executes the sourcing and tendering process (i.e., sourcing, request for information, request for quotation, negotiations, evaluation of results) in consideration of the defined category & sourcing strategy
* Conducts and leads negotiations on purchasing conditions & prices, works out price agreements or frame contracts, and leads continuous improvement plans with suppliers (e.g., ensuring availability of goods). Uses Asia sourcing office for the above for all suppliers engaged through it.
* Is responsible and accountable for developing awarding scenarios / supplier choices and communicates supplier related decisions to cross-functional project team and procurement leadership
* Ensures the security of supply by monitoring suppliers' capacities and agreements, overseeing quality standards, and maintaining adherence to timelines
* Conducts fact based supplier management and negotiates commercial penalties with them where relevant (e.g. OTIF, quality claims), leveraging the Asia sourcing office for enhanced supplier oversight.
* Coordinates regular supplier evaluations and initiates supplier development initiatives to enhance capabilities and performance of the existing supplier portfolio
* Prepares management reporting on supplier performance indicators, market analysis results, and cost developments. Utilizes data exchange with Asia sourcing office and incorporates data received in Zooplus reporting.
* Ensures efficient operation and communication within cross-functional network (between suppliers and Zooplus' interfaces) to capture new product developments and cost reduction opportunities
* Works alongside external consultants where relevant
* Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier information.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Is responsible for a larger / more complex category / large Purchase volume versus Procurement Manager
Qualifications
* Successfully completed business studies or comparable professional training
* At least 3 years of proven professional experience in sourcing, buying, and procurement (ideally in the e-commerce / omni channel retail / consumer goods sector) in food / non food categories. International businesses, across multiple counties highly relevant.
* Experience in strategic purchasing activities ( tendering, negotiation, strategy development)
* Supply market knowledge (e.g., market structure insights, screening capabilities) and supplier development capabilities
* Strong communication and negotiation skills combined with interdisciplinary thinking
* Strong analytical mindset and experienced in dealing with key business figures
* Project management experience and capability to successfully work in cross-functional teams
* Very good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
* Business fluent in English, both written and spoken (additional foreign language(s) advantageous)
* Willingness to travel (also internationally)
