Your mission We are looking for an R&D Scientist (m/f/d) for our Tübingen-Reutlingen site, for the next possible date - contract limited to 2 years, with the possibility of continued employment. As a full-time R&D Scientist, you will contribute to all stages of new infectious disease diagnostics development, from idea conception to regulatory approval. You will be part of the R&D team from day one, take direct responsibility for your tasks and work closely with experienced and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. This position provides an excellent learning and growth opportunity and allows you to translate cutting-edge molecular science into life saving diagnostic products. In this role, you will make a significant contribution to our journey to change the world of infectious disease diagnosis and thus improve the treatment of critically ill patients. As a member of the R&D team, you will be responsible for the development of novel and optimized molecular tools for infectious disease diagnostics. You will manage and execute research and product development projects at different stages of the product development process (design, testing, optimization, validation and regulatory submission). As needed, you will contribute to the projects by autonomously planning and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting experimental data, and keeping project records. Collaborate closely and build efficient interactions with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, clinical trials, and other operational departments, to drive project success. Carefully organize, analyze and interpret data, prepare presentations to the research team or other stakeholders, and report progress on schedule. Contribute to the preparation of research and product development reports, scientific communications or publications, and patent applications. Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of infectious diseases and molecular diagnostics, and apply new insights to ongoing research. Collaboratively contribute to general laboratory assistance, providing support for laboratory equipment maintenance, ordering and organizing supply, and track laboratory inventory. Your profile Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree in life sciences or related discipline. PhD with 1 years of related experience, MSc with 3 years of related experience, or BSc with 5 years of related experience. Experience executing molecular biology assays is required. Previous experience in NGS, multiplex amplification panels and/or bioanalytical assay development will be highly valued. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an entrepreneurial attitude. Ability to autonomously work in fast-paced environments keeping priorities and milestones in mind. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Business fluent in written and spoken English.
