Your role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Tax to join our Surface Solutions finance team. The Surface Solutions business unit, a mid-sized multinational leader in the pigments industry, is subject to a planned divestment to the company Global New Materials International (GNMI), headquartered in China, as of August 1st 2025. This role will be part of the divestment.
Surface Solutions is planned to become a standalone business under GNMI ownership. In this context, a fully-fledged, dedicated Finance function for Surface Solutions needs to be built up. The Head of Tax is critical for developing and implementing a comprehensive global tax strategy, including a robust transfer pricing concept, and ensuring tax compliance for over 15 legal entities in more than 10 countries.
The successful candidate should have a broad tax technical profile, and the ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders and external tax consultants. You will manage and lead all Global Tax Affairs, develop and implement a global tax strategy, including a transfer pricing concept that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements, monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business, providing strategic insights and recommendations. You will also develop and lead the newly created Tax team, establish an efficient team (internal + BPO) in collaboration with the CFO by defining, implementing and finetuning roles, processes, and related tools to ensure seamless execution of tax process and tax compliance post-carve-out.
Who you are:
* Master’s degree in taxation, finance & accounting, or a related field plus additional relevant professional certification (e.g., Chartered Tax Advisor) preferred.
* Proven broad experience (15+ years) in tax roles comprising global tax strategy development, direct tax compliance, and transfer price management, ideally also within a mid-sized international company.
* Strong technical skills related to international tax laws and regulations, with a focus on direct tax matters and related systems.
* Agile mindset, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on enabling business while ensuring tax compliance.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
* Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
