Manager, Compliance Advisory

The overall goal of the Ogier Risk & Compliance function is to support the successful execution of Ogier's business strategy through the delivery of an integrated risk and compliance culture and programme. R&C aims to support the Boards and senior management in discharging their statutory and regulatory obligations, by helping to ensure compliance with the laws, regulations, codes and guidance established by our regulators, and by providing leadership and technical excellence in the strategic management of risk and compliance across the business. The principal objectives of the R&C function are:
* To partner effectively with all areas of the Group in the development and ongoing maintenance of a robust but proportionate and consistently-applied Group-wide risk & compliance management framework in support of controlled, focused and sustainable growth
* To provide independent and objective challenge and oversight with respect to the management of regulatory risk arising in the context of the Group's activities and operations; and
* To promote and support an effective risk & compliance culture and conduct across the Group
Key Responsibilities:
Working as part of the Group R&C function and reporting to the Head of Compliance, EMEA, you will assume the Compliance Officer and MLRO roles for the Ogier Legal business in Luxembourg.
As designated R&C Manager for the Ogier businesses Luxembourg, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of regulatory compliance for Ogier Legal with the aim of ensuring that Ogier meets its regulatory obligations and conforms to industry best practices and professional standards.
You will be providing proactive advice and support to the business on all regulatory compliance matters, whether arising in the ordinary course of business, in the context of a specific project or initiative, or as a result of a regulatory event (inspection visit etc.). You will be formulating and reviewing business risk assessments in conjunction with the business areas and ensuring that they are monitored, regularly re-assessed, kept up to date and approved by the Partners. You will also be assessing, and recommending enhancements to, internal systems and controls as well as policies, procedures and guidance to facilitate ongoing compliance with the regulatory framework.
* Monitoring and reporting on regulatory developments applicable to the Luxembourg Legal business and supporting in responding appropriately supporting the local implementation and adoption of the Ogier Group risk management and compliance frameworks at local level
* Ensuring that the overall regulatory compliance of the firm is monitored and reported to the Partners
* Overseeing, and responding to the output of, Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP) activity conducted by the Group R&C CMP team
* Ensuring that the scope of CMP and other Compliance monitoring & surveillance activity covers all relevant regulatory obligations, including AML, Data Protection, Market Abuse, Fitness & Probity and any other relevant regulations or codes
* Acting as a key point of contact with the Luxembourg Bar Council and other competent authorities including escalation of all relevant correspondence received and that all supervisory reporting deadlines are met in good time
* Oversee any Internal Audit activity and outcomes
* As MLRO, ensure that a comprehensive AML monitoring programme for the business established and all staff are trained with the current mandatory AML and CJA regulatory requirements
* Ensure that where any instance of non compliance is identified within the form, it is escalated to the Partners, and externally to relevant authorities as appropriate
* Oversee and support the successful application of Ogier's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and processes to the Ogier business in Luxembourg
More generally:
* Assisting the partners in ensuring Ogier Legal Luxembourg remains compliant with its statutory, regulatory and compliance obligations
* Working with appropriate partners and directors to provide input into compliance and risk management strategy and processes
* Ensuring that legal and regulatory risk and compliance issues are identified, monitored and addressed and continuous monitoring and review of risk and compliance policies and procedures
* Reporting to partners on risk and compliance issues
* Managing risks that have the potential to expose the firm, clients and employees
* Implementing local risk and compliance training programmes for all staff
* Managing and maintaining risk and compliance registers
* Providing compliance oversight and support for the firm's onboarding process
* Supporting the firm's CPD arrangements and
* Managing client requests for files and related, GDPR and Data Protection issues
* Work closely with business and Group R&C colleagues on a cross-jurisdictional basis, as part of Ogier's global R&C function
* Support Ogier's One Best Way ethos across the team through rigorous process analysis to drive alignment, consistency and continuous improvement
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
You will hold a minimum of 5 years industry experience, alongside a relevant professional qualification and a track record of acting or deputising as CO / MLRO and you will have a solid working knowledge of the regulatory framework and AML standards applicable for a Luxembourg Law firm, and have substantial experience providing Compliance oversight and support.
