We are looking for an outstanding neuroscientist with hands-on experience in the conduct of human experimental medicine and/or neuroimaging studies. The Neuroscience and Mental Health Discovery Research (N&MH DR) department identifies novel and targeted treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, with a focus on precision psychiatry. As a Senior Principal Scientist or Principal Scientist in N&MH DR, you will work closely with translational and computational/data scientists in our sister departments to ensure that our new therapeutic concepts are driven by a robust understanding of the neurobiology of the human patient. Your expertise is our key to success.
Tasks & Responsibilities
* Lead efforts to reverse translate data from human neuroimaging and experimental medicine studies to guide the identification of new therapeutic concepts, the refinement of preclinical approaches, and the identification of potential biomarkers for translation.
* Provide advice and guide departments, teams, and wider groups based on a deep understanding of neuroimaging and experimental medicine principles & practice.
* Work closely with the External Innovations team in N&MH DR to identify knowledge gaps and develop collaborative research studies to fill these gaps.
* Contribute to the N&MH DR portfolio by leading cross-functional teams to generate target ideas, novel translational approaches, and tangible research plans.
Additional Requirements for Senior Principal Scientist
* Strategically lead the exploration of novel neuroimaging and other human research methodologies and datasets to identify novel N&MH DR portfolio projects and aid translation.
* Work with key stakeholders in our Translational Medicine and Medicine departments to strategically identify knowledge gaps and develop collaborative research studies, working closely with colleagues in Global Computational Biology and Data Sciences to apply state-of-the-art analytical approaches to their analysis.
* Act as the main contact person in N&MH DR for fostering knowledge transfer in the area of human neuroscience between key departments and business units.
Requirements
* Doctoral degree and Post Doctoral experience in human neurobiology or psychology with several years of professional experience relevant to the position.
* Proven expertise in the field of N&MH.
* Several years of 'hands-on' experience in human neuroimaging and/or experimental medicine, including state-of-the-art data analysis skills.
* Deep understanding of neurobiology and neuropsychiatric conditions.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and several years of demonstrated experience in team leadership.
* Ability to deliver high-quality results and make timely decisions with good judgment under uncertainty.
* Expert communication skills in English.
