Among the RIMOWA’s Purchasing team in Cologne, you define and deploy the global sourcing strategies throughout the entire lifecycle of the products. As such, you work closely with Industrial, Development, Quality and Supply Chain located in all sites and a worldwide panel of suppliers to achieve the best Total Cost of Ownership for the company.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
As sourcing buyer, your role is to:
1. Develop global sourcing strategies in line with company policy and objectives
2. Apply the company's standard process when integrating new suppliers
3. Mastering the design-to-cost principle and process-related cost structure
4. Establishing an efficient procurement process from sampling to series delivery
5. Shortening time to market by simplifying the supply chain
6. Recommendation of "procurement at risk" when relevant
7. Negotiating the best minimum order quantity and lead time with suppliers
8. Identify market trends and new technologies to develop innovations
9. Identify, document and promote sustainable measures
10. Design the RFP process in collaboration with internal stakeholders
11. Negotiate and apply the contract package
12. Monitor supplier performance and work towards continuous improvement
As project buyer, your role is to:
13. Liaise with the Development team and appropriate the scope
14. Formalize technical brief and align with stake holders
15. Create a process to identify and integrate suppliers in the early design phase
16. Build planning and action plan to secure smooth execution through the launch
17. Identify and reduce risks as to secure flawless start of production
18. Deliver projects on time, on cost and at right quality
19. Determine cost efficient solutions from design mock-up to industrialization
20. Liaise with Sourcing Buyers to align on sourcing strategies
21. Define and track the supplier plans together with the material planners
22. Track the cost and identify saving opportunities
23. Actively participate in Project Reviews with clear status and action plans
As project leader, your role is to:
24. Contacting product marketing and defining product specifications
25. Identify potential suppliers to be included in the design phase
26. Conducting market research and feasibility studies
27. Developing the project plan, from design brief to market launch
28. Controlling and monitoring profitability by setting the selling price and manufacturing costs
29. Contacting the buyer, if necessary
30. Tracking the development of samples and prototypes
31. Integrating the quality assurance validation process into the design process
32. Analyzing proposals and providing feedback to suppliers
33. Iterating and negotiating terms and conditions
34. Developing a procurement recommendation and submitting it to the steering committee
35. Ensuring a smooth process during the implementation phase
36. Ensure a smooth handover to the material planning and supply chain team
Profile
YOUR PROFILE:
37. College degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics, or a related field, or at least 10 years of experience as a buyer in industry
38. Relevant experience and knowledge in an industrial environment, including plant visits
39. Demonstrated knowledge of the aluminum and/or plastics industry, from supply chain to final product, including machinery, would be desirable
40. Enthusiasm for new products and technologies (willingness to learn more, develop skills, expand expertise...)
41. Strong project management skills, including developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results
42. Demonstrated entrepreneurship and proven leadership skills working on cross-functional teams
43. Strong negotiation and contracting skills
44. Demonstrated data management skills (Microsoft Office, Power BI)
45. Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
46. Adaptable, solution-oriented, detail-oriented, and proactive, hands-on mentality
47. Agile and pragmatic (flexibility between developing new processes and maintaining lean processes)
48. Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as a strong talent for influencing and persuasion
49. Strong attention to detail and proven ability to gather, question and analyze data to make decisions
50. Willingness to collaborate with many departments/diverse expertise/ability to switch between strategic and hands-on activities
