ShareTheMeal was launched in 2015 as the first pilot of WFP’s Innovation Accelerator, which among other things supports start-ups and innovators in developing their ideas for zero hunger. ShareTheMeal currently has more than 9.3 million users worldwide, who have shared more than 160. million meals (US$ 100 million). WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin and remotely, is focused on increasing the funds raised to help get to zero hunger by further developing the app to include new and innovative features, increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives. As the user base has grown, there is a significant opportunity to increase funds raised from existing users and deliver an exceptional experience to build a long-term relationship with each supporter. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Consultant, reporting to Lead UX Designer of the ShareTheMeal initiative, is expected to: 1. Support the designing of appealing user interface and work improvements in user experience of ShareTheMeal, working closely with the Lead UX Designer • Work with requirements • Collect references to best practices, implement required UX and UI changes by creating process flows, wireframes, and prototypes. • Create development-ready mockups and designs, including edge cases and empty states. • Lead on user research, working closely with other team members in the product, content, and marketing teams. • Gather and validate business and end-user requirements. • Design user journeys based on the needs and the limitations of the users and of the context of use. • Develop wireframes, designs, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, animations, and mockups of new/optimized features. • Prepare and iterate visual assets and pixel-perfect layout specifications for the native mobile apps and web, working hand in hand with our developers and QA. • Ensure that usability principles and UX best practices are followed and define specifications for user interface behaviours. • Test the designs with end users at different stages of the product development cycle and refine the interface based on the findings to minimize fixes and rework during development. • Provide Quality Assurance on the correct implementation of interface designs and behaviours. • Support and contribute to the design system. 2. Support other activities within the ShareTheMeal initiative as required. DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT: Improvements to UI and UX of the ShareTheMeal mobile apps and website QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education: The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent Experience: At least 3 years of related experience in UI/UX design Knowledge & Skills: - Visual & Technical awareness (up to date on modern designs) - Fluent in Figma (or Sketch, Adobe XD) - Basic working-knowledge of prototyping tools. -Solid knowledge of typography and composition Attention to detail, ability to create pixel-perfect designs. - Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact. - Mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills - Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy. - Strong time management skills with an ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines. - Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy. - Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme Languages: Excellent verbal and written language skills in English WFP LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK WFP Leadership Framework guides to the common standards of behavior that guide HOW we work together to accomplish our mission.
