44.moles is a fast-growing subsidiary of the Waldholz Group. The main mission of the group is to connect the world of forestry to modern technology. 44.moles is dedicated to the creation of ethical and sustainable carbon offsets with a focus on transparency.
As our team is growing we are looking to hire a dynamic and experienced individual to take on the role of Chief Technology Officer. The role will oversee 3 different departments: Web Development, Data Science, and IT Administration.
What you will do and the skills needed to do so:
Cloud Computing and Infrastructure Management
* Proficiency in deploying and managing cloud infrastructure using providers like Digital Ocean and Google Cloud Platform.
* Experience in setting up and optimizing cloud services such as storage (S3, Azure Blob Storage), compute (EC2, VMs), and networking (VPC, Virtual Networks).
* Understanding of cloud security best practices, including encryption, access control, and compliance standards.
* Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes for scalable and resilient deployments.
* Familiarity with NAS solutions for centralized storage management and file sharing across the network.
* Knowledge of NAS protocols like NFS (Network File System) and SMB/CIFS (Server Message Block / Common Internet File System).
* Experience in selecting, configuring, and maintaining NAS devices or software solutions based on requirements such as scalability, redundancy, and data integrity.
Point Cloud Processing and Data Pipelines
* In-depth understanding of point cloud processing algorithms and techniques, leveraging libraries like PCL (Point Cloud Library) in C++ and Open3D in Python.
* Expertise in designing and implementing efficient data pipelines for processing large volumes of point cloud data, including streaming, batching, and parallel processing techniques.
* Familiarity with data preprocessing tasks such as noise removal, outlier detection, registration, segmentation, and feature extraction.
API Integration and Web Development
* Extensive experience with back- and frontend development using Symfony for building backends, Vue.js for building interactive and responsive user interfaces, along with expertise in CSS frameworks like Tailwind CSS.
* Knowledge of integrating with third-party APIs such as Stripe for payment processing, Algolia for search functionality, and Unleash for feature toggles and experimentation.
Infrastructure Management
* Understanding of networking principles, protocols, and equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
* Experience in designing and configuring network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
* Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as Ansible and automated provisioning.
* Knowledge of hardware specifications and considerations for optimizing performance and scalability.
User Management
* Proficiency in Active Directory (AD) management for centralized user authentication, authorization, and access control in a Windows environment.
* Experience in configuring and maintaining AD domains, domain controllers, group policies, and LDAP integration.
* Knowledge of identity federation protocols such as SAML and integration with cloud-based identity providers.
Security and Compliance
* Expertise in implementing security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality, including encryption, access controls, and intrusion detection systems.
* Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to data processing and storage, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
* Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities.
Continuous Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
* Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top technical talent.
* Actively participate in the hiring process, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and evaluating technical proficiency and cultural fit.
* Build and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, academic institutions, and professional networks.
Management of Technical Teams
* Leadership and mentorship of multidisciplinary teams involved in various aspects of the technology stack.
* Effective delegation of tasks, setting clear objectives, and providing guidance.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Cross-Departmental Communication
* Collaborate with non-technical departments to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
* Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Participate in strategic planning meetings, providing insights on technology trends.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Natural Sciences or any related technical degree.
* 4+ years experience in a similar role.
