Hauptaufgaben Incumbent of position operates gasoline or diesel-powered trucks or truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable (fifth wheel) or pivot hook. Included are tank trucks with more than 10 tons loading capacity. Further included are heavy special purpose vehicles equipped with a power takeoff and levers, buttons, pedals, to control the equipment (e.g., trash removal truck with a front and hydraulic loader). Drives vehicles over roads and streets through all kinds of traffic, open fields, and over rough terrain, depending upon the type of vehicle operated and the purpose for which it is operated. Loads and unloads the vehicle. Ensures that the vehicle is not overloaded and that tilt cargo is protected from weather and secured to prevent falling off the vehicle. Properly completes trip tickets. In an ammunition environment, serves as ammunition handler with assignments requiring performance of a variety of ammunition storage functions. Assignments include handling the receipt of incoming ammunition shipments from the off loading stages through movement of items to storage areas and facilities; assembling items for shipment, storing, stacking and palletizing. Performs manual labor tasks incidental to small arms warehouse, outside ammunition storage and ammunition bunkers, such as moving, packing, unpacking, sorting, segregating, restocking, palletizing and checking of ammunition boxes, palletized ammunition and ammunition related material. Ensures that correct items are removed from ammunition storage areas and facilities. Verifies stock identification data on shipping document with ammunition selected for shipment, ensures that the proper items are removed or assembled for issue. Sees that ammunition identified for shipment is properly labeled and assembled in the loading areas according to information provided on the shipping document. Ensures that items loaded for shipment are properly secured on the right conveyances. Ensures that ammunition identified for storage is moved into the right location of storage areas, warehouse or bunkers in accordance with guidance received. Receives, unloads, and processes incoming shipments, assembles items into groups based on information shown on the receiving voucher and, as required, segregates materials according to such factors as condition, type of transaction, or property class and routes along appropriate processing lines. Holds material for inspection according to established procedures and routes items to be re-shipped to shipping or packing activities. Follows established procedures for when and how to report over, short or damaged condition. Uses different tools and equipment such as roller conveyors, banding machines and hand tools to include chain saws and automatic nailing machines required for blocking and bracing of ammunition loaded on trucks or in containers. Operates a variety of material handling equipment such as forklifts, warehouse tractors, and similar conveyances to load, unload and move all types of ammunition and ammunition related material and supplies. Performs area clean up and vacuum cleaning inside ammunition storage facilities. Performs a variety of repetitive tasks involved in the care and preservation of ammunition such as renovation, modification, and reconstitution of ammunition, ammunition components and explosives. Assembles or disassembles complete end items, major sub-assemblies or component parts as called for in the work order. Operates a variety of related equipment and machines such pneumatic or electric driven machines, stencil cutting machines to prepare stencils for proper marking of ammunition in accordance with drawings and instructions. Performs preventive maintenance on the machinery operated. If required, applies marking using brush, roller or spray paint equipment. Ensures colors, paints and thinner meet prescribed standards. Paints or repaints shipping boxes, as required. Performs minor care of material in storage such as removing rust and corrosion from items, re-painting, obliterating old markings, re-stenciling, re-packing and similar tasks. Assists or participates in the performance of physical ammunition inventories. Participates in inventorying, recounting or research at other ammunition storage locations to determine the reason for over, short or misplaced items. Performs other duties as assigned.
