For the group of Prof. Dr. Birgit Sawitzki starting from 2025 June, 01 until 2027 October, 31 we are looking for a
Computational Scientist (f/m/d)
in Translational Immunology
in full-time (38,5h/week).
The Sawitzki lab at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin investigates the molecular mechanisms of immune cell activation and regulation to reveal how components of the immune response themselves become a trigger of destructive inflammatory reactions, like in the context of autoimmune disease or post-acute infections (Post-COVID19). We are using state-of-the-art multi-omics technologies (cytometry, imaging, scRNAseq) as well as in vitro perturbation cultures to dissect causalities behind compositional changes of immune cells. We are an international research group and are looking for a highly interested and motivated bioinformatician for our BMBF-funded collaborative research projects "NKSG" and "CURE-ME" to support the analysis of the immune cells in Post-COVID19 and Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.
What you can expect:
* Development, optimization, and application of robust and reproducible analysis pipelines for multi-omics datasets, including cytometry, proteomics, and scRNA-seq.
* Collaboration with clinicians, basic researchers, and data scientists involved in research project implementation.
* Processing, visualization, and interpretation of analysis results within a scientific context (a background in immunology research is advantageous).
* Engagement in scientific discussions with consortium investigators, the broader scientific community, and other stakeholders.
* Collaboration with other scientists in our research group concerning omics data analysis.
* Literature review to stay updated on emerging methods, datasets, and discoveries in the field of multi-omics.
* Preparation of R&D reports and scientific publications.
What you bring along:
* MSc in Bioinformatics, Natural Sciences, or a related field, with at least two years of full-time practical experience in bioinformatics analysis within a research group in medical life sciences; a relevant PhD is an advantage.
* Strong programming skills in R and/or Python with experience in handling and analyzing high-dimensional single-cell datasets (scRNA-seq, cytometry).
* Extensive experience in multi-omics analysis and biostatistics.
* Proven experience in research projects within a multidisciplinary environment.
* Track record of publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
* Strong project and data management skills.
* Excellent spoken and written English.
