The University of Rostock offers a diverse, varied and challenging position in a tradition-conscious, yet innovative, modern and family-friendly university in a lively city by the sea.
At the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Chair of Landscape Ecology, subject to allocation of funds, we are offering two positions starting on 2025-04-01 on a temporary basis for the duration of the project "WETSCAPES 2.0", ending on 2028-12-31:
Technical Assistant (m/f/d) - Landscape Ecology
Technical experts have a central role within WETSCAPES 2.0, which is an interdisciplinary research project, that is relying on comprehensive data sets as obtained from multiple experimental field sites. Technical experts are fully integrated into the research teams and are responsible for the installation and maintenance of electronic field equipment, including data storage.
WETSCAPES 2.0 combines expertise from the University of Greifswald, the University of Rostock, the IGB Berlin, GFZ Potsdam, the Ludwig-Maximilians-University München, the MPI for Biogeochemistry Jena and the Humboldt University Berlin. WETSCAPES 2.0 focuses on the functional unterstanding of rewetted fens, including coastal peatlands, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The rewetting of previously drained and often agriculturally used fens lead to the development of novel ecosystems that differ form natural peatlands and are largely unexplored. The planned monitoring, experimental and modeling research emphasizes biogeochemical, hydrological and biological processes, focusing on water and matter fluxes within and beyond the peat body and their associated microbiological and biological drivers. In addition to site-level studies, the role of rewetted fens in the broader landscape is investigated.
