The Robert Bosch GmbH is looking forward to your application Job Description We are currently offering an opportunity for a Master's thesis project, focusing on control over communication networks. Due to network congestion, a networked control system may experience time-varying delays which impact the system's performance and stability. Stochastic control in combination with a delay model can be used to take into account these effects. Network effects will be simulated using an emulator, and the controlled system will be an inverted pendulum, either as a simulation or a real demonstrator. The candidate has the option to design and benchmark different stochastic control methods such as classic feedback or predictive control. You will identify a delay model of a congested communication network using realistic data from an emulator. In addition, you will design of a controller for an inverted pendulum controlled over the network. Finally, you will evaluate a simulated pendulum or a pendulum demonstrator. Qualifications Education: studies in the field of Cybernetics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or comparable Experience and Knowledge: in Python and in Matlab/Simulink, profound knowledge of control theory, ideally some basic knowledge of probability theory Personality and Working Practice: you are an autonomous person who has a systematic way of working and an analytical way of thinking Languages: very good in English, German is a plus Additional Information Start: according to prior agreement Duration: 6 months Requirement for this thesis is the enrollment at university.
