Hauptaufgaben
Performs duties related to the preparation of plans, reviewing specifications, and conducting engineering estimates covering mechanical and sanitary systems, such as but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water distribution, sewage and refrigeration.
Projects include major utility infrastructure repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation, and alteration to existing government structures, office buildings, living quarters, operation plants, shops, hospital and related facilities.
Reviews work requests and other basic material submitted from various installations and units relating to mechanical equipment or functionality.
Gathers additional information during field surveys, inspections and discussions with representatives of requesting units.
Investigates existing mechanical equipment layout and conditions.
Analyzes mechanical requirements, studies, feasibility and practicality of proposed project(s) relating to functionality of associated mechanical equipment related to but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water distribution, sewage and refrigeration.
Determines processes and period of performance(s) relating to operations and methods involved and provides input for time required to complete each phase or feature for equipment required.
Ability to support or provide calculations of loads, sizes, capacities, dimension fits and other engineering aspects.
Prepares preliminary engineering designs, specifications and estimates of heating, plumbing, ventilation, water and sewage systems with regard to size, space, capacities and economics.
Provide pre-design input and requirements for mechanical projects responsible for.
Coordinate and provide higher authorities proper documentation required for utility projects.
Prepares final plans, specifications and cost estimates covering work to be performed. Coordinates with all stakeholders, authorities and directorates to effectively communicate a construction/maintenance schedule or work to be performed.
Conduct quality assurance on contractors' work in progress to avoid misunderstandings and to ensure conformance to contract plans, specifications and requirements.
Investigates failures and deficiencies and initiates corrective actions.
Advises the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), Contracting Officer (KO) and/or supervisor on technical matters as they affect the contract and provides justification and cost estimates if changes are expected to modify the contract.
Participates in final acceptance of completed work.
Reviews final invoices submitted by contractor for correctness of entries.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in regards to Garrison Utility Mechanical Systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.

E&T Levels I thru IV: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.
E&T Level V: Applicants for positions in this series are required to be graduates from a Fachhochschule, a Berufsakademie, or a Technische Hochschule as an Engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from pertinent German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization of the position.
• Office Automation skills are required.
• Applicant must be in the possession of a valid driver's license class B.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency Level C1 AND German Language Proficiency Level C1 required. You may test yourself for free at one of the various online providers, who offer tests under the 'Common European Framework of Reference for Languages' (CEFR).
