In the Competition Economics team, you will work on high-profile cases conducting theoretical and empirical economic analysis. You will develop economic evidence regarding possible market power abuse by tech firms, quantify damage caused by cartels, or assist parties to a merger through the review process in front of the European Commission or other competition authorities.
Your typical tasks will include:
* Conducting literature and data research
* Applying your technical skills and knowledge of economic theory and econometrics from the academic and policy literature to the facts of a case
* Cleaning, managing, and analyzing data as well as interpreting the results and translating them for a non-technical audience
* Assisting in drafting reports, memoranda, and presentations
* Contributing to the team’s intellectual capital
Additional tasks as Economic Analyst will include supporting the more senior staff in:
* Managing people, projects, and client relationships
This job is for you if you:
* Hold an excellent master’s degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, or a closely related field (Research Officer)
* Hold an excellent master’s degree and have at least two years of experience in an economic consultancy or a competition authority; or hold a PhD (Economic Analyst)
* Have excellent English and Italian oral and written communication skills, with German being an advantage
* Can work under tight deadlines and enjoy solving problems
* Are familiar with data analysis using Stata and possibly have advanced programming skills in R, Python, or MatLab
* Have relevant work experience and/or are specialized in applied microeconomics, industrial organization, competition economics, or econometrics at university
