The main purpose of your role:
The Tender Desk Manager for Air Cargo is a pivotal role within Nippon Express Europe GmbH, responsible for leading and managing the tender processes to secure competitive solutions for our clients. Your contribution will be crucial in driving profitable business growth through effective bids and proposals for air freight services.
* Lead and develop the regional tender team, ensuring high-quality tender responses and efficient processes.
* Manage and optimize tender desk performance, ensuring alignment with commercial Air Freight (AFR) strategy at the country level.
* Drive the execution of the AFR strategy, focusing on opportunity prioritization, competitive pricing, and solution design.
* Ensure tender team compliance with regional and global pricing standards.
* Collaborate with Sales, AFR Product, and Gateway for cohesive pricing, strategy, and solution alignment.
These are your key tasks:
* Monitor and enhance the tender team’s performance to meet regional and global goals.
* Develop and execute commercial strategies for Air Freight in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring competitive positioning.
* Lead, train, and mentor the regional tender team to improve response quality and effectiveness.
* Ensure timely, prioritized responses to tender opportunities with competitive pricing.
* Oversee the qualification, strategy formulation, and pricing input collection for country-level bid responses
* Collaborate with Sales to create tailored pricing solutions and direct customer interaction for bid strategies
* Maintain adherence to global pricing standards and manage pricing data effectively.
* Proactively seek ways to improve process quality and efficiency, exchanging best practices with other regional teams.
* Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in air freight tenders, supporting global projects.
Requirements
* Strong knowledge of Air Freight and commercial pricing methodologies, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Proven track record in managing complex tenders and proposals in the logistics and transportation industry for the past 7 years.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret and respond to market trends
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to thrive in a collaborative environment.
* Multilingual capabilities, with fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
* A degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and assignments.
* Willingness to travel as required for customer engagements or bid presentations.
* Knowledge of any Transportation Management System (TMS) such as CargoWise or SAP
* Frankfurt is preferred, but EU-based candidates are required.
