As part of the Design to Cost team you will integrate a young, dynamic and multicultural team in a challenging environment.
Purpose of the job:
* To challenge costs and improve environmental impact with a "just enough" design approach
* To realize an achievable estimation of the cost of various components and systems of a train
* To generate ideas of design improvement
* To participate in the creation of the target costs for tenders and projects
* To promote a cost awareness in the Design Engineering team
Way of working:
* Identify the main cost drivers of the product and propose solutions to tackle costs
* Propose designs to reduce technical and industrial costs while improving energy consumption
* Use the adequate tools and cost models to calculate the technical cost of the product
* Compare and analyze similar projects through benchmarks
* Provide the cost breakdown of products
* Work closely with engineering team to provide a cost perspective to Project Management
Responsibilities:
* Calculate the technical cost of products and systems
* Generate and formalize saving opportunities
* Ensure the consistency of the assumptions
* Check the impact on technical performances, energy consumption, mechanical integration, industrial processes and supply chain
* Support in the design changes along the development cycle
* Contribute to reach project cost targets
Required skills & competencies:
* Bachelor / Master degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Industrial processes basic knowledge
* Fluent in English, optionally skills in German
* Good entrepreneurship and persistence
* Very good agility and collaborative spirit
* Dynamic, proactive and autonomous
